Education and Training
Dr. Albert K. Holmes attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he received his B. A. in Biology(1978). He received his Doctor of Medicine in 1981 from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN, where he attended from 1977-1981. He completed his internship at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN, and his residency at the University of Tennessee – Miller Eye Center in Chattanooga, TN(1982-1985) where he was Chief Resident from 1984-1985.
Background
Dr. Holmes has his medical licenses in both Tennessee and Kentucky. He gained his Board Certification American Board of Ophthalmology in 1987. He has received many additional certifications and advanced trainings including: PTK Training (VISX, 1999), PRK with Astigmatism & High, Myopia (VISX, 1999), Star S3 ActiveTrak System Training, (VISX, 1999), CustomVue High Myopia (VISX, 2005), CustomVue Fourier Wavefront, Technology Training (VISX, 2009), CustomVue Hyperopia and Hyperopic, Astigmatism (VISX, 2009), CustomVue Mixed Astigmatism (VISX, 2009), and Intralase (Intralase, 2007). Dr. Holmes is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Christian Medical Dental Society.
He currently specializes in Cataract Surgery, Laser Refractive Surgery (LASIK) and Eyelid Surgery (for example Blepharoplasty).
Hobbies
In his free time, Dr. Holmes enjoys tennis, skiing, water sports, and medical missions trips.
